In a bid to contain mosquito breeding following the recent dengue problem in the city, MCD workers on Tuesday carried out anti-dengue operation in river Yamuna near Chandgi Ram Akhara.
Owing to the monsoon rains that have caused water logging in many parts of the capital, hospitals and doctors have reported rise in dengue cases and other water-borne diseases.
On Monday, 11 fresh dengue cases were reported, taking the total number of cases in July to 50.
In the wake of it, the Delhi government has stepped up to take measures, including cleaning of the river.
On July 12, the government announced setting up of 300 clinics for the treatment of dengue cases. "Tests for dengue will be conducted at these clinics and primary treatment for the same will also be provided here," sources had quoted Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain as saying.
Meanwhile, a city hospital reported 77 dengue cases this year so far.
The vector-borne disease claimed at least 80 lives in 2015, according to an official report.
