Three-Day national Dengue prevention program implemented by the health authorities from 13th-15th July was concluded and legal actions taken against 1,479.
According to the final report of the program the authorities have inspected 95, 558 premises, 2,378 places were found with larvae, 11,115 places were cleaned, and 4,235 were noticed.
This program also covered nearly 188 schools and out of them 14 schools were found with larvae, 11 schools were issued notice, and other 2 were prosecuted. The larvae have also been found from 16 state institutions and 55 construction sites.
Director General of Health Services Dr. Palitha Mahipala requested the principals to take immediate actions to clean the school premises. "A Cabinet paper on forming a national policy on garbage management has been presented to the Cabinet by the Health Ministry", he added.
