Dengue puts Raahgiri on hold in Cuttack

Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has decided to postpone its first Raahgiri event as the city continues to grapple with dengue fever outbreak.

"The CMC had decided to launch the much awaited Rahagiri event in July, and identified the venue for the programme. However, in the wake of the outbreak of dengue, the civic body has decided to postpone the programme for the time being. We have decided to organize Raahgiri event after monsoons. At the moment, our priority is to tackle the situation on ground," said CMC commissioner, Gyana Das.

"The situation about dengue is worsening in the city with each passing day and in such circumstances organizing Raahgiri is not a wise decision," said a senior CMC official.

Meanwhile, dengue situation continues to remain grim. On Tuesday, another resident of Jagatpur, identified as Chaturbhuj Parida (46) died of fever after he was admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
