NABARANGPUR: The district reported its first dengue case with an 18-year-old girl reportedly suffering from the disease. She was admitted in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on Sunday.
The girl, Kajal Padiyal of Khatiguda village under Tentulikhunti block of the district, is under observation and if she requires better treatment, she would be referred to SCB Medical, Cuttack, said Chief District Medical Officer Anup Kumar Ghosh. Precautionary measures have been taken by the hospital authorities to treat patients suffering from fever, he added. The district sources said there is no reason to panic as Kajal did not contract the fever in the district and there were no strains of the vector-borne disease in Nabarangpur.
Kajal reported fever while she was staying in a hostel at Jagatpur in Cuttack district where she is undergoing computer training. She reportedly suffered from fever there and was rushed to a hospital by the hostel authorities. On July 15, her blood test for dengue in Cuttack confirmed it to be positive.
