Alert! Climate Change Could See ‘Significant’ Rise In Malaria, Dengue, Warn Doctors


Rains have brought relief from the heat but the collection of water post-rains is putting your kids at the risk of mosquito borne diseases, like Malaria and Dengue, warned doctors in the national capital.
TOI quoted Dr Arup Basu, senior consultant, chest medicine at Sir Ganga Ram hospital stating ” at present, there are few dengue cases at our hospital.But the fear is that post-rains, when there is mosquitobreeding due to collection of water, the incidence will go up. It is the trend every year.”
According to municipal reports, with 11 fresh cases of dengue reported from 9 to16 July, total 50 cases have been reported in the national capital so far.
Last year, the city saw a staggering 15,867 dengue cases,the worst in 20 years with the disease claiming 60 lives.
