Dengue situation in Odisha still grim; Central team reviews situation at Barbil


Bhubaneswar: The dengue situation in Odisha seems to have remained grim as more number of cases have been reported from Cuttack, Barbil and Brahmapur and a the first dengue case found in Nabarangpur on Monday.
According to reports, the number of people suffering from the vector-borne disease at Barbali, the industrial town of Keonjhar district, has risen to 772 with seven new cases detected on Monday.
Meanwhile, Vector Borne Disease Control Programme Director Dr Gagan Singh Solan has reviewed the dengue situation with officials of the State Health Department. Dr Solan is on a five-day visit to Odisha.
The number of dengue-affected persons rose to 179 in Cuttack district on the day. The affected include 135 people from Jagatpur and 44 from various part of Cuttack city.
Now, as many as 157 persons, including 32 women, are undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.   
The first dengue case has been reported form Nabarangpur district. A girl with dengue positive is now undergoing treatment at the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital.
The condition of the girl is stable. If required, she would be shifted to taken to outside for better treatment, said the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO).
