Suspected dengue cases in Chhapra

Chhapra: About half a dozen suspected patients of dengue have been admitted to the sadar hospital. This disease is spread from human-mosquito-human by mosquito carrying dengue virus. Although several species of mosquitoes under the genus Aedes are capable of transmitting this virus, Aedes Aaegyptica is commonly associated with the disease.

According to doctors, the cycle begins when a mosquito of this group bites an infected person and becomes a career of this virus, which has been identified as DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4. These viruses are called serotypes because each of them has different interaction with the antibodies in human blood serum. When a mosquito bites another healthy person, it spreads the disease causing possibility of its outbreak in an epidemic form. One of the symptoms has been severity of pain similar to that of breaking bones and, so, this is also called 'break bone fever'. The other symptoms include red patches on the body parts, headache and high fever, etc

Dr Anil Kumar suggested wide publicity of different symptoms and steps to prevent this disease. "During rains, the immune system of a person gets weak providing opportunity to different germs including this virus to enter the body," he said.

Chhapra sadar hospital has arranged a separate outpatient department and a separate ward for such suspected dengue patient.

Dr SN Singh, deputy superintendent of the hospital, suggested the common proverb 'prevention is better than cure'. He suggested avoiding waterlogging near dwellings, use of insecticides, use of fresh vegetables and fruits, handwash before taking food, etc

Dr Singh further said the newly constructed post mortem building is expected to be inaugurated by next month. "This would be an airconditioned block with facility of maintaining unclaimed bodies for about 72 hours, preservation of viscera and other parts for forensic test," he said.
