Bhopal : Mosquitoes of dengue-malaria stings during day and breed in clean water. Therefore, not only villages, people in cities should also be made aware. Awareness programmes should be held in tandem with Health Department, Municipal Corporations, District Education Officers, Corporators, CEOs of Janpad Panchayats and panchs-sarpanchs.
This was directed by Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Rustam Singh during a video-conferencing with 11 dengue-malaria prone districts here today. Singh said that one teaspoon full edible oil should be poured in stagnant water in coolers, water tanks and other utensils in houses. When a layer of oil spreads over water, it not only guards against mosquitoes, but also destroys larvae.
Principal Secretary Public Health and Family Welfare Smt. Gauri Singh and Director Dr. K.L. Sahu were also present on the occasion. Minister Singh asked CMHOs and District Malaria Officers of Sehore, Bhopal, Indore, Jhabua, Balaghat, Sheopur, Chhindwara, Sidhi, Singrauli, Betul, Shivpuri and Dindori to complete sprinkling of medicines in every village positively by July 31, constantly undertaking field visits and provide adequate quantity of ORS packets, zinc and chlorine tablets etc to ASHA workers.
Singh apprised himself of teams constituted for sprinkling anti dengue-malaria medicines and factual position of sprinkling of medicines in habitats, villages and houses. Singh said that the Central Government will soon provide 13 lakh 70 thousand medicated mosquito nets to Madhya Pradesh. About 7 lakh mosquito nets were provided last year., Don’t discharge patients before complete recovery from disease Rustam Singh directed to discharge patients only after complete recovery from disease. Singh said that when a patient is seen talking, his relatives think that he has become fit.
They take the patient home and the case becomes complicated. Singh said that relatives cannot gauge seriousness of disease. Therefore, it is the duty of doctors not to discharge patients before complete recovery from disease. It was informed that dengue-malaria under control in Sehore district for the last 2 years. In Bhopal district, 24 teams are operating and 186 case have come to the fore since January. Minister Singh directed for survey of stagnant water in Bhopal city, specially in posh areas.
Advise is being given to school children to wear full-sleeve shirt. In Indore, 19 cases have been detected so far. Singh directed to increase number of teams and joint meetings of administration, corporators and Mayor for increasing awareness at Indore. In Jhabua, 50 teams are operating. Jabalpur CMHO was directed to stay for 3 days at Dindori for malaria control.
Be alert towards swine flu right from now Rustam Singh directed to all Chief Medical Officers to be alert towards swine flu right from now. Singh said that number of patients of cold-cough is increasing in hospitals due to rainy season. Watch should be maintained on them.
